Yekaterinburg

Yekaterinburg (known from 1924 to 1991 as "Sverdlovsk" after the Bolshevik politician Yakov Sverdlov) is a city located on the eastern side of the Ural mountain range in Russia. As of the 2002 census, Yekaterinburg had a population of 1,293,537.
